Diagnostic value of FDG-PET/CT in fever of unknown origin

Abstract Background Fever of unknown origin (FUO) is a challenging clinical problem in medicine that needs collaboration various diagnostic techniques to establish the accurate diagnosis. We evaluated performance 18F-FDG PET/CT patients who presented themselves with FUO. Our study included 40 FUO underwent examination and their results were compared laboratory, histopathological, microbiological investigations and/or response therapy. Results The final diagnosis malignancy 20 (50%), infectious causes 7 (17.5%) non-infectious inflammatory 6 (15%). resolved without 4 (10%), while no definite was reached 3 (7%). successfully contributed 35 out accuracy 87.5%. sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value negative our 93.5%, 66.7%, 90.6% 75%, respectively. Conclusion useful tool investigate diagnose cause It provides information can guide treatment strategy patients.
